Israel Fest in Virginia Beach

Experience Israel without leaving Tidewater!

May 1st, 2022 12:00-4:00

Presented by Avraham and Karen Ashkenazi

Our annual Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebrations are known throughout Tidewater as community-wide events that bring together all peoples in honor of Israel's statehood. From a sun-drenched festival with food, games, & live entertainment spread across our Sandler Family Campus, to last year's drive-through Israel experience, this annual event is not-to-be-missed.

Israel Fest, Tidewater's community celebration of Yom Ha'Atzmaut for the ENTIRE community.

  • Get a taste of Jerusalem with the culinary renegades from Meat Carneval.
  • Place a note in the Western Wall.
  • Shop and haggle over art, Judaica, and jewelry at The Shuk.
  • Swim with the fish in Eilat.
  • Catch up with the innovation nation in Tel Aviv.
  • Enjoy Bedouin hospitality in a desert tent.
  • Visit a kibbutz to learn about community, ecology, and small farming. And so much more!
  • Camel rides, the Biblical (petting) zoo, art activities, digging for shekels...

Fun for the whole family! Join us to learn about Israel through people, facts, and figures, as we spotlight Israel’s rich and diverse culture, innovative spirit, wide-ranging contributions to humanity and democratic civil society.

Festival is open for friends of all faiths.

ABOUT ISRAEL FEST 2021...

ON APRIL 18TH, 2021, the Tidewater community arrived at the Sandler Family Campus and Simon Family JCC in Virginia Beach to participate in our "pandemic pivot" drive-through Israel Experience to celebrate Yom Ha'Atzmud. The day was hosted by the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, the Jewish Community Relations Council, Strelitz International Academy, PJ Library, Camp JCC, Konikoff Center for Learning, and supported by xx Mercedes Benz of VB.

Visitors of all ages remained in their cars while driving through various gerographical highlights in Israel. Kids were able to haggle for items (books, toys, spices, fruit) at the open-air shuk as well as place a note in the Western Wall (to be delivered to the actual Wall in Israel by one of our staff). There was a drive-through Eliat experience where visitors learned about fish, surfing and more.
